CSC Chapter presents Prompt Payment and Construction Lien Act Legislation
Alberta's government has passed the Prompt Payment and Construction Lien Act and supporting regulations. The new Prompt Payment and Construction Lien Act (the renamed Builders' Lien Act) introduces prompt payment, changes to the existing Builders' Lien Act and an adjudication process comes into effect August 29, 2022. This framework sets out clear timelines and rules for payments and liens as well as a new adjudication framework for payment disputes within the construction industry.
Industry representatives appointed by the Alberta Construction Association have been directly involved in the stakeholder discussions and finalization Act and the regulations under this Act. The Alberta Trade Contractors Council is one of these representatives and will be providing the speaker for our meeting.
